From Vulci to Villa Giulia: The Path of the Heroes

new combined ticket

A new combined ticket is now available for the National Etruscan Museum of Villa Giulia and the Vulci Archaeological and Nature Park. “From Vulci to Villa Giulia: The Path of the Heroes” is the project that strengthens the bond between the Vulci Park—located within the municipalities of Canino and Montalto di Castro in the province of Viterbo—and the National Etruscan Museum of Villa Giulia, home to some of the world’s most important masterpieces of Etruscan art.

This historical bond now finds a new element of continuity in the Italian government’s recent acquisition of the frescoes from the François Tomb, created between 340 and 320 B.C. and universally regarded as one of the most extraordinary testaments to Etruscan civilization and the figurative heritage of the ancient Mediterranean.

Discovered on May 1, 1857, by archaeologist Alessandro François in the Ponte Rotto necropolis on the island of Vulci, the tomb was dismantled in 1863 and transferred to Rome, where it became part of the Torlonia Collection. The paintings, created for the noble Etruscan Saties family, intertwine Greek myth, local history, political propaganda, and representations of power, making them a treasure of exceptional historical, artistic, and cultural significance.

The new combined ticket will offer visitors the opportunity to explore the heritage of Vulci and Villa Giulia through a single itinerary, rediscovering and rekindling the historical link between the ancient Etruscan city and Rome.

The combined ticket will be available starting October 15, 2026, for 15 euros, and can be purchased through the Musei Italiani platform and app, as well as on the Coopculture website. It will be valid for one year from the date of first use and will allow one entry to each of the two sites.

A “Young” ticket, available to European citizens between the ages of 18 and 25, will also be offered at a cost of 6 euros.
