BLIND AND PARTIALLY SIGHTED VISITORS

ETRU provides tactile maps to ensure that visitors can navigate the museum spaces independently.

Tactile tables are available along the Villa Giulia tour itinerary, free for visitors to use, featuring tactile reliefs, captions in raised print and Braille, bas-relief models, and 3D models of the collections’ major masterpieces. Each table has a QR code that provides access to additional content on the website, including audio descriptions and in-depth text explanations.

The exhibition rooms dedicated to Tomb No. 2 of the Maroi burial mound in the Banditaccia necropolis in Cerveteri and to the Letto Funebre tomb in Tarquinia feature tactile aids and captions in raised lettering and Braille.

Maroi Tomb: bas-reliefs of four vessels from the grave goods, discovered inside the burial chambers: a typical Etruscan wine set consisting of a kyathos—a vessel used for drawing wine, featuring a tall handle (ansa)—and a Nicostenic-type amphora, with wide, flat handles and an ovoid body; a columnar krater, a vessel used to mix wine and water, and an ointment jar for perfumed substances.

Funeral Bed Tomb: bas-reliefs of three figures (a discus thrower, a double-flute player, and an acrobat on horseback) depicted in fresco on the tomb’s walls.

In the passageway between the two rooms, there is a tactile display featuring bas-relief models of the various types of burials characteristic of Etruscan culture, arranged in chronological order.

Upon request, ETRU provides additional tactile aids and 20th-century reproductions of Etruscan and Greek artifacts to enhance the visitor experience. By appointment, you can also request assistance from staff for a dedicated tactile guided tour.
